Option-Cmd-U is the new Option-Cmd-V

Perhaps Dave Hyatt’s recent View Source shortcut adjustment in Apple’s Safari browser caught you unawares (I certainly was) but look on the bright side. Aside from matching the equivalent Mail shortcut this also puts Safari one step closer to matching the equivalent Mozilla Firefox shortcut (Cmd-U). Unless, that is, you never liked the Firefox shortcut either … in which case you should <shouts a la Lewis Black> use the context-sensitive menu already!

So lessee, whereas before I would place the left thumb on Cmd, left pinky on Option, and left index on V, I guess it’s not much of a stretch if I now put the left thumb on Option, the right thumb on Cmd and the right index on U. Sure. I could get used to that. It’s like Option-Cmd-V was more of a tone cluster, or a tritone with a second thrown in, but Option-Cmd-U is like a D major.

Yes, I sometimes manage to think of shortcuts in terms of a piano keyboard. (Don’t ask.)

Then again, this shortcut brouhaha is a minor nit in the presence of all the latest Safari enhancements and updates, not to mention Dave’s rising to the Acid2 challenge. Bravo.
