Using Ajax with TypeKey

Experimenting with the Ajax approach for TypeKey signin/signout. Special thanks to Jim Ley for a fine how-to manual, plus the original XML HTTP script magic that drives this example.

Checking TypeKey Status ...

The rest of this page should load without delay, while the status (above) is checked separately. (Reload this page again and keep your eyes on the bordered area above if you missed it.) Compare/contrast this with the other way where there can be a significant delay between loading "Post a comment" and the rest of the page.

If you have a TypeKey account, you can try signing in and out if you'd like (though the steps are a bit awkward at the moment):

  • Wait for the TypeKey status update (above), then sign in.
  • Once signed in you will be taken back to one of my entries. (Couldn't get it to return to this page - changing the return link doesn't cut it.)
  • Double-back here (back button x 2) and reload this page. The status will be updated accordingly.

Ingredients

Plenty more to be done here - this is just a start. Feedback is welcome and appreciated (via posting a comment).
